| Below is just a list of Google's Core Values they have on their wall at their headquarters. It is not long, not in depth, and doesn't over promise or over deliver. It is simple succinct, and give an accurate portrayal of their stance as a company and their outward thoughts on how they operate. It inspired me in a time where I have felt that all internet marketers were black hat technicians misleading and misdirecting traffic, business owners are all corrupt and entrepreneurs are doing exactly what their title states, looking to be number one by only looking out for number 1. I have added commentary to each value in red. Enjoy and please let me hear your thoughts.
1) We want to work with great people - We hire great people and expect a lot from them
- We create an environment where people can flourish and grow
- We treat people with fairness and respect
- We challenge each other’s ideas openly
- We value diversity in people and ideas
- We are a quantitative company that uses data to make decision
•Having high expectations and working your employees or your business to the bone is something that in this market and economy is absolutely necessary. This doesn't mean you are abusing your employees. Show them why you ask of them so much, show them how much you can return as well.
2) Technology innovation is our lifeblood - Build the world’s best technology and products
- We apply technology and creativity to solve important problems
•Aim high and hold on tight. When ideas and brainstorms are the basis of discovery then make sure you get input from all, through the kitchen sink at it. Some of the best ideas and marketing strategies come from misplaced suggestions. There are no stupid ideas, if you have an employee that suggests something completely unrealistic instead of dismissing it, think about it and you may find a better solution by using a part or combination of many stupid or irrelevant concoctions.
3) Working at Google is fun - We expect our people to know and enjoy each other
- We have a challenging/energetic work environment
- We celebrate our successes and each other’s accomplishments - both professional and personal
•Having pride in not only your business or product but respect for those who have joined the team is the key to success. Lead by example, your future of your company depends on those who work for it. Whether that is outsourced internet specialists or the secretary sitting at the front of the office. The lowest paid employee is still fulfilling a necessary role and acknowledging these people are what promote and grow your business as well as the mentality and direction your business has.
4) Be actively involved; you are Google - Honor commitments
- We openly communicate and trust you with a great deal of information and we expect you to honor our confidentiality
- Understand when you are representing Google and act appropriate.
•Be proud of who you are and what you do, the rest will come naturally.
5) Don’t take success for granted - Think and act like an underdog
- Be humble with success; don’t be arrogant
- Be scrappy and resourceful
•Well, we are all underdogs in a sense on the internet, there arent many of us that can say they can sit back and collect the traffic because no one can compete. Unless your Sony or Walmart you probably have to consistently push and pull with your actions to keep fresh and on top of the marketplace. Keeping the underdog mindset keeps you hungry and actively aggressive. Complacency is a very dangerous ideal for the internet.
6) Do the right thing; don’t be evil - Honesty and integrity in all we do
- Our business practices are beyond reproach
- We make money by doing good things
•The internet was established as a learning tool for universities to educate and teach. As a teaching tool the internet has been always based on relevancy. Google has taken that approach with regards to page rank. The more open, honest, and forthright you are with your knowledge and information, the more relevant to the engines you become. In essence the higher rank you will recieve because of it. don't ever be afraid to give away a few secrets here and there...what you have to offer more then anything is yourself
7) Earn customer and user loyalty and respect every day - Create, enhance and maintain great products and service.
•I like this one because if you look at every dollar being yours you can minimize the spending of your company but maximizing the ownership of it by your employees. EX:"If people have their own guitar and play it a lot they take great care of it, when they play one at a music store they dont really mind it it gets scratched so long as they dont have to have it or pay for it
8.) Sustainable long-term growth and profitability are key to our success - Think scale and efficiency
- Every dollar is yours
- Do things that matter.
•When you have great products you can do 2 things. First you can stand behind your product and defend what you sell against others. You can also talk honestly and openly about its characteristics both positive and negative. When you believe in the product you sell there is no longer a sales pitch, it simply is just introducing it to the people who need it most. People will make their own decision to buy.
9.) Google cares about and supports the communities where we work and live - We encourage and enable our people to support local community involvement and expect them to participate.
•wiTH HELP AND HONEST CONCERN FOR OTHERS WE ASSURE OUR SUCCESS ONLINE AND OFF, I HAVE BELIEVED THIS FOR YEARS, THE INTERNET AND GOOGLE SEARCH CRITERIA IS THE FIRST PLATFORM IVE SEEN THE MOST RELEVANT AND VALUABLE CONTENT OR JOB BE FAVORED OPPOSED TO CHEATING AND LyING,etc..
10) We aspire to improve and change the world - Aim high; think BIG, take risks
- A healthy disregard for the impossible
•THIS IS THE BEST LINE I HAVE EVER HEARD IN REGARDS TO YOUR BUSINESS |
