SEO and Internet Marketing...what is the difference?

The benefits of either side are a matter of personal preference. One benefits off using using optimization to sell a dream or to exploit a product to the general public. In most cases they can be easily refered to those late night tv ads talking about making a killing in real estate or how to sell tupperware but make millions, blah blah blah. These people have a place no doubt in the virtual marketplace and in many cases they aren't taking your money but rather, your giving it to them. The internet, without a doubt, great venue to make money. Even further, great place for the average joe at home with a keyboard and a couch to literally market a product to any specific person or type of person he or she wants. Optimization is, believe it or not, as old as...

the internet. The difference between then and now is that there are so many sites and so many users that have availability to it that now, competing for that sacred number one rank in search rankings is fierce. The most skilled and innovative SEOconsultants will tell you that there is no secret method or insider magic that allows some to get to the top over others but it is going about a structured formula and grinding it to the bone. The variable is in the creative way in which new techniques are developed and as new applications and new technologies are developed, SEO and I.M. (internet marketing) consultants can find the next hot edge to get ahead. I must preface most of this by saying that we all are internetmarketers and we all target those who need our services the most however the ones who I refer to I.M.'s are those who want to grant "Instant Money". Internet Marketers, or I.M.'s who are promising three easy steps to financial freedom or who sell a book that consists of tips and insider exploits to find the next big money market online are selling the sellers. Let me explain...

If you ever are online and read or watch an article about someone who is making
boat loads of money selling something to a certain market and you walk away saying, "that guy seemed just like an everyday person, just like me, in fact, I think he was a little dumber!" you will have just been roped into an "I.M. Instant Money" making scheme. Much of it revolves around the tried and true pyramid scheme which on paper is like communism...it looks like it works. In reality though once you get your hands dirty you find that the people who previously you thought to be dullards are far advanced and excel at marketing online and targeted people who they knew would bite.

I know I have not gone on the flip side to discuss
SEOconsultants and the dangers that lie within them as well as why I feel they separate themselves a little from the Internet marketing individuals that for one reason or another remind me of Fraternity Members of Internet Fraternity brotherhood. They pray on the weak and feeble, the ones in dire need of monetary assistance or a quick way out. They work in hordes to round these people up, offer them an upside that is phenominal, a downside that is zip and give it to them for a relatively inexpensive price. Why wouldn't you do it? This is the most overused pitch by these guys, most of who have pictures of themselves holding adsense checks and wearing holy jeans and baseball caps.

This will become a two part article as it seems, stressing both sides of the virtual marketing world only at a glance. There is much more in depth insight into this as well as a more analytical way of judging and discerning whats real and whats a quick pitch. Certainly any I.M. who can promise "instant Money" and get rich quick themselves, more power to you. I don't ever mean to talk down or
illegitimize what you do. You have perfected a system of sales that is very effective and can be very lucrative. Personal opinion is that I desire more to benefit individuals from my efforts. I know that many will be quick to judge me as well, calling me a hack or a waste of knowledge in that I prefer to grind out the work myself trusting only me and the small group of in-house employees we have at mediaforest8.com as well as the very trusted and age old few who we outsource the overflow to. We will never make it big and will never expand to exponential proportions but I can guarantee that every person that works with my company will benefit from our experience andskill set to the fullest of our abilities and the results will prove that as well. Stay tuned for the conclusion of the I.M. versus the snail mail mareketing of ethical search engine optimization on the new frontier via the virtual world in which we are becomingensconced in.
